The wolf in Celtic culture
The wolf was one of the animal allies of Cernnunos, Celtic god of the hunt and fertility. On the famous Gundestrup Cauldron found in Denmark, the wolf is one of the animals portrayed alongside the horned figure. Other animals on this artifact from around 120BC are a stag, bulls, a boar, a dolphin, a snake and a lion.
