Tree of Life Decorative Box
The Celts believed in animism, the belief that animals and other natural objects had a soul. They believed that communication between the natural world was possible.
Shrines were made to the spirits of trees, rocks and springs and offerings left at them. Trees such as the oak and ash were considered sacred.
This decorative box has my design of a Tree of Life. A celebration of animals and the natural world. All the animals and even the mistletoe on the lid of this decorative box had a relevance to the Celts in their daily life and spiritual beliefs.

Decorative Box
The Tree of Life decorative box has my original design burned into the wood before hand painting. A protective coat of acrylic lacquer has been applied to the exterior of the box. The base interior has lining of blue felt and a gold coloured chain added to protect the hinges.
In the design are horses, a stag and hind, a raven, a wolf, an owl, a hare, a fish, a squirrel, a mouse, a wren and a snail. The sun, moon and stars peek through the branches of the Tree of Life; while mistletoe, oak leaves and acorns grow entwined and standing stones are a reminder of an earlier, ancient culture.
