Stag Jewelry Box

The stag was associated with Cernnunos horned antler god of all wild animals, hunting and fertility. To the Celts the stag represented the active side of nature, Cernnunos being the god of sexuality and consort of the Great Mother goddess.

This jewelry box has the Celtic stag design burned into the wood and painted with thin glazes of colour allowing the wood grain to show through. A handy little jewelry box for the man wanting to keep track of all those cufflinks - no more “hunting” where they fell off the dresser!

The side of the box has raspberries painted, or hind-berries as they were named in the north of England in earlier centuries. So named after the female deer that grazed on the woodland berries. The jewelry box is finished with a protective coat of acrylic laquer.
