Fox Decorative Box

This beautiful decorative box has a fox design on the top and front. The designs are burned into the wood before hand painting. The inside base of the box is lined with felt and a gold coloured chain has been added to protect the hinges. The outside of the decorative box was then given a coat of acrylic laquer to give a glossy sheen and help protect the surface.

This hand painted box I call the “Snow Fox.” The fox that used to visit my backyard a year or two ago inspired the design of the decorative box. The fox used to sit under the crab apple tree munching away during Autumn and still visited in the January. I painted a snowy scene with the fox under a branch with a bird looking down; the snow can be on the ground for four months or longer here in Michigan.
