Celtic Horse Decorative Plaque
A horse design influenced by early Celtic art has been burned onto this decorative plaque then painted in thin layers to allow the wood grain to show. Finally a protective coat of lacquer was applied.
We use our decorative plaques as stands for salt and pepper shakers, salad dressings, sauces and serving bowls at the dining table. Of course you can always fix a hanger on the back to use as a decorative wall plaque!
The horse was important to Celtic society in many ways. It may have been one of their first religious symbols. The horse provided transport for a mobile people as well as meat. Celtic horses were used in battle by the cavalry and to pull chariots into battle.
