Fish Design - Decorative Tray

In Celtic mythology fish were associated with knowledge. It was thought the salmon was one of the oldest living creatures. Salmon were associated with wisdom supposedly gained by eating the nine hazelnuts of wisdom that fell into the well of Segais, the main source of all knowledge in Irish Celtic lore. The salmon was also associated with prophesy due to its ability to return to its distant spawning ground by instinct.
