Celtic Dog Wooden Plaque
In Celtic mythology the dog had many roles and symbolism associated with it. The most enduring is that of a loyal companion whether to the gods or its mortal masters. Not only the hunter's companion but defenders against wild animals. Guard of hearth and home, and a protector of travellers and sailors. The dog was the accompanier of the mother goddess. This wooden plaque has the design of a loyal hound burned into the wood, colour glazed and a coat of acrylic lacquer applied.

Celtic mythology
Dogs were also associated with healing. This notion may be due to the way a dog will lick a wound and clean it with its saliva. The Celtic god of healing's symbol was a dog. Other tales linking dogs with death may be due to their ability of sniffing out carrion and feasting alongside ravens. Tales tell of dogs guarding the entrances to the underworld.
