Celtic Dog Keepsake Box

Dogs represented loyalty, unwavering love and companionship to the Celts. The oldest domesticated animal, dogs have had a close relationship with man. They shared the warmth of the fire at the end of day and guarded the home. During the day the dog would be hunter's companion, or guard and herder of livestock.

The lid of the keepsake box has a Celtic dog to guard treasures within. A hunter's spear has a heart knot to represent the bond of devotion and love between dog and owner. The design has been burned into the wood; the colour applied in thin glazes allowing the natural wood grain to show. The keepsake box is sealed with a protective acrylic laquer.
