Lugh, god of light, in the Ulster Cycle is associated with ravens; the word lugos meaning raven. Before the second battle of Magh Tuiredh Lugh was forewarned of his approaching enemies, the Formonians by ravens. The raven is also associated with the Irish/Welsh God Bran. The welsh word for raven is bran.
